A lovely dusky pink Rhodochrosite sphere. This stone is not often available in sphere form, mainly being used for jewelllery, carvings or mineral specimens. This piece has a ‘sugary’ look to it with some clear patches. A great find!

BLACK JADE NEPHRITE SLABS
A package of good BLACK JADE NEPHRITE SLABS suitable for jewellery, carving, lapidary working or tool making. 7% iron content differentiates this from other nephrite jade and is the main cause for the black. One photo shows dry and the other is wet – you can see my reflection (hand camera & arm). This is one of the toughest stones with a great luster shine when polished.

Striking piece of clear Quartz Crystal Arenite Chlorite inclusions. The Crystal is polished on 3 sides and clearly displays the dark green Chlorite formations. It was very hard to photograph this crystal as the quartz is so clear, my pics don’t do the crystal or inclusions justice!

PYRRHOTITE SPHALERITE QUARTZ
An amazing combo of three great minerals Pyrrhotite Sphalerite Quartz! This location is known for its incredible metal/mineral specimens and this is no exception. An affordable, collection-worthy piece. This specimen displays many classic barrel shaped crystals of Pyrrhotite and is from old stock. Pyrrhotite crystals are rare and hard to come by.

Named in 1847 by Ours Pierre Armand Petit Dufrenoy from Greek “pyrrhos”, flame-coloured. Pyrrhotite has some unusual characteristics. First, it has an unusual formula. The amount of sulfur does vary by roughly 20% or 50 to 55 atoms of sulfur per 50 atoms of iron. Or is it the iron that varies? Really the same difference. Thus the unusual formula of Fe1-xS. Secondly, it has two symmetries.
