A gorgeous crimson pink Cobaltoan Calcite 1 specimen with vibrant sparkling colour. Calcite Crystals with cobalt have covered the face of the host rock. One side of the host rock is covered with pink crystals, with the rest of the rock also slightly pink from the cobalt content. An unusual cluster, there aren’t too many pinks in nature and this is a nice large affordable piece. Great for jewellery making or just to admire as is.

Al2O3.Corundum is called Sapphire except red Sapphire which is called Ruby. The word sapphire comes from the Greek word for blue, sapphirus. Only a few hundredths of a percent of iron and titanium can cause the colour, and the more iron the corundum contains, the darker the blue. A rare sapphire is a Padparadscha which is a pinky peach colour, found in Sri Lanka. The best shade of red for a Ruby is Pigeon Blood Red. Ruby can be any shade of red up to almost pink.
